Services for

INSTITUTIONS

Glocalize your institution

Educational institutions often experience a mismatch between internationalization policies and local commitments. Our glocal approach focuses on identifying and promoting complementarity between an institution's global and local opportunities, networks, and goals. Local impact in today’s world depends on global connectedness; equally, success in global spaces entails navigating diversity within and between local places worldwide. Societies and education systems are interrelated more than ever before, but are not homogenous. There is no one model for internationalization that responds best to the contexts and needs of every institution. GlocalU offers a suite of cost-effective services to develop a customized, glocal approach to advancing your institution's own unique path in the world.

Planning and Management

After gaining an understanding of your institution's capacities, needs, position and mandate in global and local contexts, we can propose a roadmap for developing best-fit policies, projects and programs. We also offer support in designing, implementing and evaluating these as well as already existing or planned initiatives and activities including, for example:

Baseline studies; strategic internationalization planning; mobility programs and processes (in-person and virtual); international student services; international student recruitment; marketing; localization; contingency planning and risk management; international compliance and regulation; international funding databases; funding applications; international agreements; international project and event management; impact evaluations.

Partnering and Positioning

We help you assess your existing portfolio of partnerships and identify new ones to enhance your research, teaching and social impact goals while increasing the global visibility of your institution and its accomplishments. We carry out relevant research, support communications and guide you through the process of strategically developing partnerships, consortia and networks as well as defining communication channels to advance institutional recruitment, marketing and positioning.

Capacity building

Institutional change involves the whole community and internationalization, or glocalization, requires preparing every individual to understand and do their part to support the process. To this end, we offer professional development training for academic and non-academic staff as well as support integrating global and intercultural dimensions into existing curricula in discipline-relevant ways, as well as the development and/or delivery of stand-alone courses for students or the wider community. Certificates are available to recognize student learning and professional development.
